1 Week Post Spinal Cord Stimulator (Day 22)
It has been 1 week since the Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial has ended. My body is returning to its previous state of discomfort and there is no longer any increased symptoms from the device removal or my fall. My familiar limits are starting to return; sitting, standing driving have all regressed to their previous thresholds. The device is seeming more attractive.
I have returned to the gym to work on my back and core strengthening exercises. It certainly helps to relieve some of my stress, this has been a difficult few weeks of the trial on top of a difficult 3 1/2 years. My Physical Therapist would be happy to see my dedication to the routine he set up for me. I lost some strength and endurance during the three weeks I took off but it shouldn’t take long to get back to my old self. My physical therapy is the only thing I have control over so I work as hard as I can at it.
My wife and I meet with Dr. Gill tomorrow to discuss the permanent implantation of the Spinal Cord Stimulator. We both agree I should do it, there were results. I find myself missing those results. There is also no other options, no other treatment available out there at this time and I don’t want to spend years waiting for the next breakthrough to come along.
